Mayor Expresses his Gratitude
Many senior citizens in Eberswalde dedicate their time to volunteer work. To recognize this exceptional and selfless contribution, the mayor annually honors particularly active individuals in an official ceremony. Volunteers can be nominated by friends or family, or they can also reach out to the town hall directly. If you know someone deserving of this award, please get in touch with:

Care On-Site
The Brandenburg state government's ‘Care On-Site’ programme provides local authorities and municipalities with the opportunity to apply for funding to support projects for individuals with care needs and/or disabilities. The goal of this initiative is to help people with disabilities participate in social life and remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Additionally, the program creates resources for family caregivers, offering advice, relief, and support.
The city of Eberswalde is currently supporting four facilities through this funding program:
The Akademie 2. Lebenshälfte is involved with a program aimed at seniors, focusing on ‘Digital Support Measures’ and ‘Advice on Using Smart Media at Home.’ For more information, visit hier.
The Hoffnungstaler Stiftung Lobetal's ‘Aufwind’ meeting centre offers a variety of activities, including a storytelling café, games afternoons, and information evenings covering various topics related to care and provision.
Kontakt Eberswalde e.V. has opened the ‘Silberwald’ meeting place in Brandenburgisches Viertel to provide local residents with activities such as sports, German language classes, painting and cooking workshops.
On 11th November 2024, the Eberswalde City Library will host a special programme for people with disabilities. The event will feature community games and Kamishibai storytelling, tailored specifically for this group, alongside a chance to socialise over coffee and cake.
The ‘Care On-Site’ programme will be funded until 30th June 2025.
The Social Round Table is an association of various social organisations in Eberswalde. During meetings, which are held approximately four times a year, the current situations of the participating organisations and the resulting need for action are discussed and addressed. The city administration acts as the moderator, provides the meeting space, and forwards the key points to the relevant department head to initiate concrete measures if necessary. Interested organisations are welcome to join the round table.

The BIWAQ project ‘Growing Together’ is an initiative funded by the European Social Fund, designed to offer long-term unemployed individuals in the Brandenburg neighbourhood new perspectives for organising their daily lives and professionally reorienting themselves. This is achieved, for instance, through the joint planning and construction of a wooden pavilion in the neighbourhood, which will serve as a meeting space, picnic area or place to relax for all residents. Additionally, workshops and personalised coaching sessions will be offered to help participants with their reorientation. Plans also include the training of conflict mediators and the provision of courses on the responsible use of digital media.
If you have any questions or are interested in participating in the project, please feel free to contact the staff at Büro Blau or the city administration.
