Urban Development Day" in the Brandenburg Quarter
On Saturday, 4 May 2024, the neighbourhood management invites all interested citizens to the Brandenburg Quarter between 10 am and 3 pm as part of the "16th Volunteer Day" and the "Urban Development Day". The meeting point is Barnim Park.
The "Day of Urban Development Promotion" is a joint initiative of the federal government, the federal states, the German Association of Cities and Towns and the German Association of Towns and Municipalities. Urban development funding is one of the most important instruments of urban development - for strong neighbourhoods, an attractive living environment and good coexistence in the neighbourhood. On the annual Action Day, cities and municipalities provide information about projects that are being or have already been realised as part of the funding. Various activities are organised to highlight the successes of urban development funding in the Brandenburg Quarter. Everyone can find out about current plans.
During a guided photography workshop between 10 am and 12 noon, the changes in the neighbourhood in recent years will be shown from the residents' perspective. The offer is free of charge and all participants can learn what to look out for when taking photos. On a discovery tour, participants can get great tips from a professional and capture their favourite places. The resulting photos can be submitted for the 2025 photo calendar or admired in a small exhibition.
Last year, an outdoor fitness facility (a so-called calisthenics facility) was installed in Barnim Park with the help of urban development funding. Residents were able to help shape the surroundings as part of smaller activities. Anyone, young or old, can exercise at the fitness facility at any time. During a free and supervised training session between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., there is the opportunity to exercise in company and activate your muscles.
