Sporting action for a good cause
Donation from the Karl Sellheim School
On 21 January 2025, pupils from Karl Sellheim School in Eberswalde presented a donation cheque to the Friends and Supporters of Eberswalde Zoo. Sporting commitment meets good cause: with the aim of combining sporting activity and the beautiful gesture of giving, the school's PE lessons were busy "scrubbing kilometres".
The focus of the campaign was a run around the school building, in which 600 metres had to be completed per lap. A donation was collected for each lap run, which will now be donated to Eberswalde Zoo. The donation cheque for a total of 50 euros was handed over at the zoo school.
Ms Ostrowska, the director of the zoo, and Dr Bernd Hensch, the chairman of the Friends' Association, gratefully accepted the cheque. "Everyone can do their bit to make the zoo more beautiful," emphasised Ms Ostrowska at the handover. Both emphasised the importance of the long-standing cooperation with the Karl Sellheim School. The pupils of the oldest co-operation school have been active at Eberswalde Zoo for many years - in the past, not only donations but also numerous hours of work have been donated. This enthusiasm and support from young people who are committed to the zoo make a significant contribution to keeping the facility attractive for visitors and promoting its development.
Eberswalde Zoo would like to thank the Karl Sellheim School and all those involved for the successful campaign and their support for further development.
