Free guided tour of the Eberswalde forest cemetery

The city of Eberswalde is once again inviting visitors to a free guided tour of the forest cemetery this year. This will take place on Saturday, 22 June 2024. The meeting point is at 2 pm at the mourning hall of the Waldfriedhof. This time, the focus will be on the cultural heritage of the cemeteries in Eberswalde.

In 2020, on the recommendation of the German UNESCO Commission, the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs included cemetery culture in Germany in the national list of intangible cultural heritage. This award recognises the value of cemetery culture for our society. In order to emphasise this at Eberswalde's cemeteries in the future, the town has joined the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Cemetery Culture" charter and is thus part of a nationwide network on the subject.

In addition, all citizens are invited to take a walk through the forest cemetery. You are welcome to consult the accompanying booklet "Silent tour".

For families and children's groups, the cemetery administration recommends the "cemetery rally" through the forest cemetery with lots of games and information. Please bring a pen and compass with you. The accompanying booklets can be found at the administration building of the forest cemetery at Friedhofstraße 9.
