Exhibition opening: "Image & Soul" - 25 years of Dahmshöher ART
Under the title "Image & Soul", the 313th exhibition will open on Wednesday, 8 May 2024, at 6 p.m. in the small gallery of the city of Eberswalde. It shows works from the art project "Dahmshöher ART", which was launched in 2000 under the patronage of the Lebenshilfe Landesverband Brandenburg e.V. and under the artistic direction of Britz artist Klaus Deutsch. "We are the others who you think are different," says Deutsch, symbolically describing the group's artistic starting point.
For over 20 years, artists have been meeting several times a year at "Haus Dahmshöhe" near Fürstenberg an der Havel. Surrounded by inspiring nature and in a relaxed atmosphere, well over 1000 paintings, sculptures, textile works and theatre pieces have been created over the years in workshops lasting several days by well over 100 artists - the vast majority of whom live with a disability.
The immediacy of his fellow artists, who dare to show something immediately with all their colours, without always thinking about rules or being plagued by self-doubt, impresses him time and again, as Klaus Deutsch reports.
Now these works, whose independence and emotional clarity make them something very special, are being given their own exhibition.
