On Tuesday, 16 January 2024, an unexploded bomb from the Second World War was found during civil engineering work on the construction site of the timber module manufacturer timpla by Renggli. After an inspection by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (KMBD) of the Brandenburg police, a 100-kilogram Soviet-style aerial bomb with a long-term chemical detonator was found and uncovered. Mayor Götz Herrmann, who visited the site on Tuesday to find out how the salvage work was progressing, expressed the hope that finds of this kind would continue to be an absolute exception in Eberswalde.

It is expressly pointed out that a possible detonation of the unexploded bomb poses a danger to life and limb.
