Volunteer Day

In 2024, many hundreds of citizens in Eberswalde will once again be doing voluntary work for their living environment or their fellow citizens. Whether in clubs, initiatives, associations, churches, the fire brigade, the Forstfasching carnival or looking after refugees - the work of volunteers helps to ensure that life in our city is attractive and diverse.

"Volunteering characterises the face of our urban society, in which people stand up for each other and can rely on each other. It is indispensable for good co-operation. I am grateful that we have such a large network of voluntary work in Eberswalde. That is priceless and deserves the greatest respect," says Mayor Götz Herrmann.

In Eberswalde, volunteering is supported and fostered in a variety of ways. The Eberswalde Volunteer Agency has been in existence since 2008. As a project of the Barnim Uckermark Community Foundation, it is funded by the city of Eberswalde and the district of Barnim. The volunteer awards ceremony, which traditionally takes place in the first quarter of the year, is organised by the city of Eberswalde in cooperation with the Eberswalde Volunteer Agency. In addition, the city of Eberswalde promotes volunteering with the "Guidelines for Recognising Civic Commitment". Information on this can be found at www.eberswalde.de/ehrenamt retrievable.

There is also the "Day of Clubs", which is dedicated to the work of the various local clubs and institutions. For the past three years, the day has provided an active opportunity to gather information and get to know each other.

For the next "Day of Clubs", which is planned for 14 June 2025, voluntary institutions, organisations and clubs will once again present themselves in the park on Weidendamm. Those interested in taking part in 2025 can already register via ehrenamt@eberswalde.de make a reservation.
