Company visit: Mayor visits umetec GmbH

The headquarters of umetec GmbH can be found on the grounds of the Eberswalde Technopark on Marie-Curie-Straße. The Eberswalde-based company has been producing at the site for 20 years. From series production to special components, the company has made a name for itself in the automotive, railway, wind power and solar industries. Umetec GmbH currently employs 50 people and actively trains apprentices. The company's vision is to utilise its two decades of expertise in steel construction in the interests of the energy transition. "The combination of acquired expertise, modern e-mobility and solar charging options can support the energy transition. Metal solutions like the ones we offer are actively influencing the energy transition," says Managing Director Alexandra Walter.

The basis for this noble goal was created through a large number of co-operations - both regionally and nationally. From transport racks for rotor blades and special components for the wind power industry to the Finizio toilets, which are well-known in Eberswalde and for which umetec GmbH manufactures the important steel tanks, the Eberswalde-based company has a broad base.

The results of these endeavours are manifested in modern technical applications and smart solutions for the growth market of solar energy. Among other things, the umetec product "CARTHEIA" is currently at the centre of the company's activities. This combines e-mobility, charging infrastructure and high-quality modular construction methods with modern photovoltaics in a solar carport made of hot-dip galvanised steel. Protected parking and simultaneous charging are combined. Cars, vans and motorhomes as well as e-bikes and e-scooters can be served here.

On 28 May 2024, Mayor Götz Herrmann visited umetec GmbH as part of his regular company visits to gain an impression of the company's work and processes.

"I am delighted that a company like umetec GmbH is operating here in Eberswalde. It creates jobs, provides training and works on innovative solutions for the future. This shows once again what it means to work with a lot of energy and passion for a location and good ideas. I have already arranged to examine how future applications of the technologies and products produced here can be utilised by the municipal companies," says Mayor Götz Herrmann.

The company sees itself as part of a dynamic region. Umetec GmbH is the main sponsor of the "Eberswalder Warriors" American football team, which is part of the 1. FV Stahl Finow e.V. football club, and supports young people in their training and qualifications. Work in the region that benefits the region.
