What is chosen?

On 09 June 2024, the Federal Republic of Germany will host the Election to the European Parliament instead.

The following elections will also be held in Eberswalde:

The polling stations (duration of the elections) are open from 8 am to 6 pm.

Where do you vote?

The city of Eberswalde is divided into 37 general electoral districts for the combined elections to the European Parliament, the district council of the Barnim district, the city council of the city of Eberswalde and the local advisory council of the Clara-Zetkin-Siedlung district on 9 June 2024. These can be found in the election notice in the Official gazette for the city of Eberswalde 04/2024 can be viewed in full.

The electoral notifications sent to all persons entitled to vote indicate the electoral district and the polling station in which the person entitled to vote can exercise their right to vote.

ATTENTION: Every person entitled to vote can only vote in the polling station in whose electoral roll they are entered and which is printed on their polling card!

What do I need to bring to the election?

  • Election notification
  • official identity card or passport (EU citizens a valid identity card)

Identification documents must be presented at the request of the electoral board. The polling card must be handed in at the election.

If you have not received a voter's notification and do not know in which electoral district you are listed on the electoral roll, you can call the electoral authority on 03334/64-150 to find out.

Voting takes place with officially produced ballot papers, which are kept ready in the polling station and contain the nominations authorised in the respective constituency.

And what about postal voting?

Until Friday, 7 June 2024, all Eberswalde residents entitled to vote can use the postal voting office in the town hall at Breite Straße 41 - 44 to collect their postal voting documents for the elections to the European Parliament, the district council and the city council in person and cast their postal vote on the spot. The same applies to voters in the Clara-Zetkin-Siedlung district for the election of their local council. The postal voting centre is located on the 2nd floor in room 206.

Where can I view the election results?

The counting of the election results in the individual polling stations from 6 p.m. is open to the public. The same applies to the counting of postal vote results, which takes place in the "Hufeisenfabrik" town hall in Eberswalde's family garden.

The application for a polling card with postal delivery is possible until 05.06.2024 12:00 noon.

You can also collect your postal voting documents in person from the town hall and cast your postal vote there.

Election helpers wanted!

European and local elections will be held in Eberswalde on 9 June 2024. In addition to the Eberswalde city council, a new district council and a local advisory council in the Clara-Zetkin-Siedlung district will also be elected. To ensure that the elections are carried out properly on election Sunday, we are looking for electoral assistants who would like to volunteer in one of the 37 electoral boards at a local polling station or in one of the 6 postal voting boards.

In order to be appointed to an election committee, you must be authorised to participate in the election. It is therefore possible to participate as an election assistant from the age of 16. No special prior knowledge is required. The members of the electoral boards (election supervisor, secretary and their deputies) are trained in advance or instructed in their tasks on election Sunday. The members of the electoral boards receive a refreshment allowance for their work on election Sunday.

The refreshment allowance for the election day and the counting of the votes cast for the European elections, the district elections, the election of the municipal council and the election of the local council of the Clara-Zetkin-Siedlung is 70.00 euros per polling clerk and 50.00 euros for all other polling clerks.

For postal voting committees, the refreshment allowance for counting the votes cast for the election of the municipal council and for the election of the local council of the Clara-Zetkin-Siedlung is 60.00 euros per election committee member and 45.00 euros for all other election committee members.
