Lufthansa Airbus A321 "Eberswalde"

With the signing of the naming documents, the city of Eberswalde has now officially had a new "flying ambassador" since 4 December 2012. Instead of the old "Eberswalde", a Boeing 737-300, which was retired from the Lufthansa fleet, a modern Airbus A321 flies on the European airways in the name of the district town.

The Lufthansa Sales Director for Eastern Germany, Martina Grönegres, and Mayor Friedhelm Boginski notarised the name transfer in a festive ceremony. The mayor expressed his satisfaction that Lufthansa intends to advertise the city with a modern Airbus in future. "Perhaps this will arouse the interest of one or two travellers to visit Eberswalde," said the mayor. It is also important for a city like Eberswalde, which is committed to sustainability and reducing emissions, that the "Eberswalde" is significantly quieter than its predecessor and consumes considerably less paraffin. Guests at the naming ceremony included the chairmen of the parliamentary groups of the Eberswalde city council and children and nursery school teachers from the "Sputnik" daycare centre, who sang about flying, among other things.
